Last Thursday I
had the great pleasure of demonstrating just a little of what is possible with
the Tattered Lace Totally Entwined Collection.
These are yet more new dies which open up so many possibilities.
There are lots
of them – we showed the Birthday, Everyday, Special Occasion and Romance dies
before moving on to the Entwined Shapes and Borders dies and the Entwined
Lattice Die and Lattice Border.
These dies do
exactly what it says on the tin, in that the sentiments are totally entwined
with the surrounding foliage and patterns, in a really sweet delightful
way. I love them!
An aspect of
these dies which is quite a departure from the norm and a really good idea, is
that they are not ‘occasion specific’ – the dies don’t mention the words ‘Christmas’
or ‘Anniversary’ for example, or indeed point to any one thing that has a
specific event in mind. This rather
clever notion means the dies are much more versatile.
Many of the dies
in the range are not symmetrical, and I feel that makes them instantly more
interesting. They are all very pretty,
very detailed and ornate, which is of course what we all enjoy about this particular
brand. They have ‘snippability’ too –
there are lots of elements to the each die that can be used independently of
each other or in conjunction with all kinds of other dies, and of course with
the other dies in the Entwined collection.
The great thing
that struck me when I first came face to face with them is that the longer I
stopped and stared at them, the more possibilities sprang to mind.
There is more of
a link to each of the dies in the Entwined shapes and borders dies, as the
beautifully detailed foliage has a theme and is quite similar in each die. And
when that foliage is as lovely as this and as intricate and detailed as this,
that’s no bad thing.
The Entwined
Lattice Die and Lattice Border dies are intriguing, simply because there are so
many different looks and effects that can be achieved with these… as I’ve said
before, the only limit is one’s own imagination!
The card I made
using the Entwined dies was a pink and white one, with just a splash of
silver. I made a white background using
the Lattice Die, added a solid pink layer, and then cut out the Heart sentiment
die in pink. I placed gems in each of
the holes in the lattice pattern and stuck on a solid pink heart, which I made
using one of the Tattered Lace essentials range dies. I cut out the birdcage in
both silver and vellum, which I feel really brings it to life.
And the final
touch was to add some flowers which, in true ‘Blue Peter’ fashion, I’d made
earlier – hope you like it!
